La Casa Encendida: Signage

Exhibition & Signage
La Casa Encendida had an existing signage system that although followed the original brand manual, it was less than optimal for visitors, accessibility, it’s vigorous cultural programming of the building. In addition, the plethora of green signs consumed/competed with the architectural presence of a cultural institute.

To remedy this, we studied the visitors flows, the frequency of the cultural programming, and the various accessibility guidelines. The result was a flexible and removable signage system allowing for frequent repainting of the walls. Meanwhile the blunt and neutral design of the signage returned the focus on the building and its programming and circulation.

The system exceeded the accessible signage codes of Madrid and is considered a reference within Spain for accessible signage.
