The venue plan created as part of Japan's bid to host EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI is built around core concepts like decentralization and dispersion, representing the constant change in relationships between individuals and groups that is a prominent feature of today's world in order to tangibly express the structure of future society. At the same time, it serves as an easy-to-understand model that proposes a next-generation urban structure which is also suitable for the operation of new urban elements such as self-driving vehicles and other forms of autonomous mobility, as well as augmented (AR) and/or mixed reality (MR).
This exhibit takes features and experimental elements that are incorporated in the venue plan, and presents them as one possible type of future city. In cities of the future, various users will interact in complex and discrete ways within digital space. We can think in terms of a physical world made of what we can recognize as "things," an "in formation world” represented by the web, and a “common ground" situated between the two. This exhibit illustrates the social implementation of common ground. It provides a place where people can experience the gap between the awareness of humans and that of digital agents, and relationships with the world that humans cannot grasp on a city-wide scale.

2025年、大阪・関西万博誘致活動のための会場計画案は、未来の社会を体現するため、「非中心」、「離散」といったキーワードを核として、多様な個や集団の間で常に変化する、現代ならではの関係性が表現されています。同時に自動運転をはじめとする自律型モビリティやAR/MR(拡張現実/複合現実)などの新しい都市的要素の運用にも適合した、次世代の都市構造を提案するモデルでもあります。
本展示では、計画案に組み込まれたさまざまな新しい試みや特徴が、未来都市のひとつのあり方として再構成されています。未来の都市では、デジタル空間で多様な利用者が、複合的かつ離散的に、相互作用を及ぼします。そこには、私たちがモノとして認識できる「物理世界」と、ウェブに代表される「情報世界」とがあり、それらの中間領域となる「コモン・グラウンド(共有基盤)」が想定されます。本展示は、コモン・グラウンドの社会実装を表現します。人間とデジタル・エージェントの認識のずれや、都市的なスケールにおける人間が認識できない世界との関わりが体験できます。
