FREE NUNU AREA
What is Free NuNu Area?
Free NUNU Area was the theme Rudy von Kronstadt (the founder of the NuNu movement and collective) and I (nunugirl, co-founder of NUNU) chose for our projects exhibited at the Blue Biennale, in Brasov, Romania in 2019.
Free NUNU Area is also the text written on the PunkArts, which are social sculptures that we place throughout the city and which indicate that every person in the surrounding area should think, feel, love and be free!

Nothing
Nothing, Cristina Bodnarescu, digital collage on banner, variable sizes, 84x118 cm, 80x200 cm
The works from the Nothing series are the result of an experiment freed from any rules of composition, through which I proposed a reinterpretation of the collage. Starting from photographing physical objects considered trivial in the capitalist consciousness (cardboard boxes, newspapers, magazines, clothing products), I destroyed the image by digitally processing the photographic result and adding meaningless elements to the composition. Playfulness seen as an experiment, deconstructivism to the last consequences are key elements in the process of creating nunu constructions, as nunu does not want to abide aesthetics, but to remain in an independent sphere.

Bize
Bize, Cristina Bodnarescu, collage, framed, variable sizes - 58x78 cm, 80x200cm
Relying on the idea of chance, of total experiment, on the tensions between abstract and figurative, between identification and disappointment, I created images whose chaotic result from a visual point of view is synonymous with the events of the world around us. I used completely recycled materials, which I recontextualized by throwing on the work surface, in a purely Dadaist gesture, randomly cut elements from newspaper scraps, colored paper, advertising posters. From the very beginning, the process is intentionally distanced from the traditional norms of using color, composition and choice of the subject, precisely in order to be able to understand the total freedom of visual expression.

The short film Five revolves upon the idea that the information propagated by the media to the general public is useless. Since its inception, television has enjoyed a huge echo, and through its wide spread has managed to impregnate seemingly multidirectional ways of looking at the world: socially, politically, economically and culturally.
But the reality is not always what is presented to us as a finite fact. To the same extent, the television has managed to capture the little free time that contemporary man still has and this is, not infrequently, the preferred method of relaxation.
My short movie Five proposes an intimate and enduring audio-visual experience, relying on the idea of lack of communication and meaning between sound and visual. It also invites the "consumer" to meditate on the controlled disorder, on the mechanisms for communication and on the importance of the intimate time spent in front of screens.
In the end, we should ask ourselves: are we "the perfect citizen of the consumerist society - an obedient automaton that strictly follows the directions and suggestions offered by the media"?
