My recent body of paintings and ceramics are primarily concerned with the exploration of color and pattern with my own psyche. The performance of making each piece has relied on a primal instinct for the next move, in creating a cathartic and intuitive routine for myself.
The work is based on my adolescence, primarily consisting of how I coped with anxiety by using inappropriate humor and mark making. Much of these scenes take place as I was spending my summers in Northeastern Utah with my mother. My memories have been inspired into the abstraction and surreal sights of patterns about my adolescent mind and Northeastern Utah.
Creating this work has allowed me to work through my teenage experience in an array of colorful and funky pieces.
