On 31 August 1944 Montegridolfo was freed from the Nazi-fascist yoke.
The liberation took place after an intense battle between Germans and allies around the city walls and saw the heroic behavior of English lieutenant Gerard Ross Norton.
A journey of memory recovery undertaken by the entire Montegridolfese community, allowed 20 years ago to materialize this story in the Museum of the Line of the Goths and to make the memory of those days more effective, the story has been told for 10 years with an accurate historical re-enactment: Montegridolfo liberata.
