The Year of the Dolomites

The Dolomites are one of the most famous mountain ranges worldwide. Though they cover just a small part of the Alps and are far lower than the highest peaks like Mont Blanc, they're intriguing any visitor. With shapes that often remind rather of modern art sculptures than classic mountains they are an iconic landscape attracting visitors from the whole globe. During the last years - especially after becoming UNESCO World Nature Heritage - the number of tourists was ever rising. That has also some negative consequences like an increase in traffic jams and the need for infrastructure expansion. But when leaving the mountain roads and crowded spots behind, there is still much magic hidden in the Dolomites.

My goal for this series was to capture the natural & mystic spirit of the pale mountains throughout the course of a year. So I've visited the remote places during the touristic main season and the hotspots during off-season. The known and unknown come together to reflect the sheer beauty of these unique mountain range.
