We looked at the culture of our country and the way in which tourists and people who visit our land experience this culture and found that the true essence of what each city beholds is not being experienced. Yes, people come from far to see things like Table Mountain in Cape Town and to visit the beautiful warm beaches in Durban, but when and at which point do they really start to indulge themselves in the local culture.
Without having an inside scoop, we feel as though people do not get to experience our rich culture because tourism has promoted our South African cities in a very mainstream and basic way. The problem here is that people are falling into the trap of following the crowds to overpriced, overcrowded experiences which lack culture.
The solution:
is to create an app which informs people of the hidden gems of selected South African cities. This app will draw in the user to become a South African local, so that they can experience the true local delights that our cities behold in order to fully immerse themselves our culture which has sorely been lost through overpriced and overpopulation tourism.
