    Spring 2013
I was interested in the contrast between the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects of Jae-Hyo Lee's wood installations and decided to use light to represent the extrinsic act of carving/sanding/cleaning the found branches as well as illuminate the interior of the fixture.
Branches were pieced together, stripped of their bark, and sanded according to the curves and proximity to the light. The branches surrounding the bulb are byproducts of the construction process, arranged with outer bark closer to the bulb and sanded branches towards the edge.
