Handprint Magazine Project
A self initiated project to create an editorial cover that is made from individually hand painted watercolour illustrations, cut out, photographed and edited with digital typography. The theme was to create a publication for creatives of all ages to explore their surroundings and their own creativity.
To start I made a rough digital draft to decide what I wanted for the composition and the elements I would need to paint. From there I decided on three figures and two gallery buildings which were painted separately in watercolour. These were cut out in the style of 'paper dolls' and I posed them together to create the composition I sketched earlier in my draft.
Once in position, I photographed them with my camera and used that photo as the basis for my cover design. On Illustrator I drew up some vector hand lettering and graphics to use for the title, small text and barcode for the cover. Lastly it was all pieced together in Photoshop.
