As a member of the Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts, I volunteer my design skills to strengthen the marketing of events and priorities of my local arts council. As I created pieces, I consistently asked for logos and visual identity to brand the pieces and make them more consistently recognizable in the community. I found that the original files for the old logo had been lost long ago and only a low-resolution version remained (see below for that version as comparison). It was time to look at creating a fresh, new visual identity.

Through research of other local art councils, I recognized that many took a minimalistic approach that would fit well with the broad themes under the arts umbrella. Art is painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, creation, music, performing and so much more. To use specific visual imagery for a few would leave out others or make the logo overly busy and not bold and recognizable. This new logo emphasizes the initials that the council often uses and also emphasizes the arts since the mission is to promote the arts in the Lebanon community. The purple color is a nod to the previous logo and connects to the history of the council. It is set up to be used in purple, white or black.

I also updated their quarterly newsletter design. Previously, it was a PDF attachment that was sent out via email. Since most members view emails on their phones, I recommended moving it to the Adobe Spark platform to make it more ADA accessible and responsive. The emails are now sent out with text about clicking on the link to read the newsletter along with the images below to make the emails more visual.
