Waltham Phiharmonic Orchestra
Waltham, Massachusetts, November 2019
Like all community orchestras in the Boston area, the Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra lives in the shadow of the renowned Boston Symphony Orchestra. Made up of retired professionals, semi-professionals and a few amateurs, the WPO nevertheless acquits itself quite well. This evening’s program was devoted to Russian music of the Romantic Period, with works by Tchaichovsky and Glazunov. A violinist from the Boston Symphony Orchestra played a movement from the Glazunov Violin Concerto. The performances were splendid, I thought, and so did the audience.
