Brand Identity, Wayfinding, Signage, Iconography

Puerto Veracruz is a multidisciplinary urban project that seeks to enhance the experience of jarochos and visitors in representative places of Veracruz. We had the opportunity to collaborate in the creation of the brand identity and wayfinding.

Developed in the major port city of Veracruz, the intervention is divided into two large stages, the first approach was the entire pier, promoting the symbolic value of this large area, very much in the way of its 500 years as a port, and for the second stage we work in various areas in downtown, highlighting the historical importance of its most emblematic buildings.

The graphic identity of Puerto Veracruz is inspired by the historic port life of this great place, reinterpreting important signs of this 500 year old city, in forms, texts, typography, colors and iconography. The colors and geometric shapes arise from the idea of the flags used in nautical activity, their arrangement and color allude to a dynamic and diverse expression, in an analogy of the multiple activities that take place in the areas considered for the project. In addition, we wanted to honor the vitality and energy that characterizes Veracruz through strident colors originated from chromatic contexts of the city itself.

In the same way, the iconographic system has sailor's knots as a conceptual axis, the ideas represented are formed of lines intertwined as strings, allowing to flexibly create each of the necessary icons, thus helping to strengthen the port expression of the entire identity.

Puerto Veracruz, Corazón Jarocho that vibrates more than ever.
