Punk was born as an explosive and controversial counterculture, the music was fast and agressive, fashion was fearless and design was completely original. As their main ideal was “do it yourself”, anyone who had a guitar or a drumset could start a band, and anyone who owned a pair of scissors and a glue stick could design something. The final part of my thesis focuses on how the punk scene tiredlessly created fanzines; and how, to this day they are the purest depiction of the iconic punk aesthetic.
