Advocacy
What is an ADVOCATE?
The advocate is there to help them any child or young person that has a social worker, make a complaint, help them at meetings or help them get their voice heard.
As part of our "Change by Design" module at University we had to create different material for an awareness campaign for TGP Cymru. (Live Brief) When it came to the target audience of the project, we were told we could be very flexible as they have people, they work with from 5 - 25. We could either chose the people in that bracket that will need an advocate or the supporting adults around those children, from foster carers to the teachers.
After conducting an interview with a foster carer, I decided that I would target children in the secondary school bracket. I chose this group of students as from my research I realised that they would be able to understand what an advocate is and how they can be useful in their lives as well as their peers.
For the outcome of the project I decided to create posters, a snapchat filter and a leaflet that the children could take home to their parents/carers.
