This student had not painted in oils, he put his head down and created a portrait with real depth - we can feel this man's soul

this student had never painted before she was so hard working and created this absolutly stunning painting

using a rag to take paint off and lighten the light areas before painting creating an incandescent depth layer after layer week after week

starting to wipe over painting with a glaze

moving the eye

wiping down with a tinted glaze

adding the lights

small amount of liquid dryers (purple stems yellowing)

making paint with powder and grinding on marble with a glass muller

Using a complex sequence of glazes we slowly 'sculpt' our paintings using a technique Rembrandt used to move features around until after fifteen or twenties 'passes' we are relaxed with our paintings and finished.
