The project is located on an 85m2 land plot in the alley 225, Le Van Quoi St., Binh Tan Dis., HCM City. Previously, the old house had only one ground floor with the GFA of 70m2, including a living room, a bedroom, kitchen, toilet, stairs and terrace. The small gardens at the front and at the end of the house are just bright enough for the kitchen and a part of the living room. The bedroom is located in the middle of the house and cannot take natural light. The ventilation capacity of the building is quite poor and the interior space feels stuffy when there is no air conditioning.
Sou fujimoto – inspires us with cube-shape cover. Generally, we were still more convinced with simple straight lines and right angles and that was included in the original exterior idea. Arch. Vu Tien An then suggested us forcefully tilt the “box” to one side and; simultaneously, reach the front and back balconies out of the building like "tongues".
Aires Mateus and Johnston Marklee - learning about the combination of cubes and "crazy" wall perforation. Accordingly, we have freely perforated holes in the house top and sidewall but still follow the ziczac flow to get maximum light into the house, make mini scene and above all, get enough oxygen for the trees in the void.
Kreis Grennan - High and large glass doors help the house to receive good natural light, not obstructing views; thereby creating a sense of vast space and increasing the height of the house. Besides, indoor pond makes sense of being close to the environment, combining with large trees reduces the temperature of the wind blowing into the house.
