1:5 Scale Model | Rolls-Royce HYPERBOREA

_In Motion
The Rolls-Royce HYPERBOREA is the Master Thesis work conducted at the Rolls-Royce Design Studio - BMW Headquarters, Munich. The project explores the boundaries of transportation design by creating a holistic vision of a fully serviced travel, also known as the Revival of The Grand Tour. The project's focus was the interior design and for the final outcome a 1:5 scale model was created. This model hints the exterior design language, while covering the interior in full depth. The model is on display at the Umeå Institute of Design in Sweden.

_Model Making Overview
I had the full responsibility of building the entire CAD-Model in Maya and delivering clean translated NURBS-data for prototyping. The model was build at the BMW model shop facilities in Munich, making use of their full-scale model making equipment. The base, floor and exterior of the model was milled out of dense foam, while the details where complemented with 3D printing. Hereafter all parts had to be meticulously sanded, masked and painted in various colours. The model was assembled in modules as shown on the image here above. During this process I was mentored and helped by BMW's professional model makers, overseeing my work to ensure the highest quality.
