Custom Cereal Boxes

Cereal boxes, what to do with them when the cereal is finished?

The majority of households in the US use cereals as breakfast options. It is not only the US but the majority of the world. This is because cereal does not need to be cooked and can be managed by most children and non-cookers. It is rather convenient to have something in the house that you could simply pour milk on and consume. Though cereal is generally associated with breakfast, it can however be eaten at any time of the day.

In the average US household, there are is at least two types of cereal and more than a single type bought when shopping for grocery. Cereals are packaged in custom cereal boxes as each company as different ones made. With the consumption of cereal at an all-time high, the waste that it brings forth is quite high as well. The plastic paper that encases the cereal itself cannot be managed in an eco-friendly way but the box can most certainly be reused. Given below are different uses that emptied cereal cartons can be put to.

 Paper Storage:

The easiest DIY (do it yourself) trick to use with discarded and empty cereal cartons is to make a paper storage case. These will not take much time out of your day and you will be able to do with ease. You simply need two to three boxes to work with. If you have any saved up, that is great, if not, you can wait until your next grocery haul. You can begin by cutting off the lid flaps off and have the top completely exposed. You can then glue three or four boxes (depending on how many sections you wish to have) together. The boxes need to lie flat on top of each other. After the glue has dried down, you can take some printed piece of wrapping paper, a simple one or even a cloth if you would prefer that and wrap the whole thing. The front (top) of the boxes will remain uncovered for accessibility. It is up to you if you want to cover the bottom or not. So, there you have it, a very functional and easy to make paper storage.

A Desk Organizer:

The next DIY is rather similar to the one explained above. For a desk organizer you can cut the boxes in slanted. The height can depend fully on your preference but we recommend at least two and a maximum of five inches. Once you are done cutting it, it is now time to assemble them. Similar to the paper storage, the boxes will be glued laying flat on top of each other. Once the glue has dried down, you can cover it up with your preferred cloth or parchment. The box will be laid down with its mouth facing upward.

Thread Spools:

This DIY hack is also rather easy to carry out. The two simple things you will need to carry this out are a pair of scissors and a graph paper. By drawing the outlay of a spool on the graph-paper, keeping heed of the measurement on the tiny boxes (for accuracy), you can cut it out. Now take the stencil and place it on the cereal boxes cardboard. Cutout as many spools as you wish!
