Looking through the 'Waste'
Concept Note

Looking through the ‘Waste’

Waste (adjective):
(of a material, substance, or by-product) eliminated or discarded as no longer useful or required after the completion of a process.

The waste of a household talks about the household. The same very much applies to a neighborhood. While navigating through the tiny lanes of the Old Town Yelahanka, my eyes were naturally drawn towards the piles of 'waste' omnipresent almost everywhere. Old windows, rusted pushcarts & chicken mesh, discarded TV sets, and lot more stuff that we don't normally find in a relatively new neighborhood. This 'waste' gives us a glimpse of the neighborhood's rich culture, diversity and history. Through this set of 8 postcards I tried to capture the images of 'waste' that might spark curiosity about the neighborhood in the minds of viewers.

Following are some of the illustrations made as part of this project.
