All businesses strive to reduce costs while increasing profits. However, this is often impossible when the finance and sales departments are disjointed. The sales department is responsible for increasing company revenue by selling services and products on behalf of the business. To do this, they work closely with marketing to attract new customers and boost sales among existing customers. In addition, they work with the finance department to create credit policies and rewards programs for existing customers.

Meanwhile, the finance department is in charge of determining the entire company’s operational budget. Often, the sales department does not pay much attention to how much is spent to acquire new customers, so it’s the finance’s department’s job to limit their spending. Unfortunately, this creates tension between the two departments that can impede the company’s overall performance if ignored.
