Explainer - Nakagin Capsule Tower

Japan, 1957.
Explainer/Tribute about the Nakagin Capsule Tower (Tokyo, Kisho Kurokawa)

After a year of studying and exploring motion graphics, this is my graduation project.
We had the opportunity to create an explainer about one randomly-selected architectural master piece, from scratch.
This is supposed to be an episode from a mini serie of motion graphics about architecture, so I also had to design an intro/outro.
If you didn't know about the Nakagin Capsule Tower or Kisho Kurokawa, check this out, this thing is CRA-ZY

Damn, this was fun.
The designs are mainly inspired by Metabolism philosophy (adjustability and idea of movement), references and inspirations (like Archigram for exemple) ; and of course, by the Capsule Tower itself.

I love explainers, architecture, Japan, bright colors, funny characters, shapes...

And this thing HAS IT ALL ! ;)

We also had the opportunity to write the voice over, then record it with a comedian, so thanks to Audrey Vinel for her amazing voice on this project.

Role : Direction, design, animation, sound design
Music : Junko Ohashi - I Love You So
             Jinsang - Bliss

Graphic explorations for the intro
Shapes exploration for the background
Thank you for watching !
