A small and simple personal project on interface design. A simple widget made in Zooper widget, consisting on a clock, battery charge featuring visual representation, and date featuring weekday and month name.
Visuals are based on RGB chromatic aberration, commonly seen on VHS video and other old interfaces, specially when poorly calibrated or damaged.
The chromatic aberration effect doesn't come from a filter. It's actually caused by overlapping and playing with opacity and rendering mode for the same elements 3 times in red, green and blue, along with a small offset, resulting in the white color plus the desired RGB artifacts in the edges. Also, the only external file used is the VCR OSD Mono font, making it fairly lightweight.
There was some debate regarding the use of chromatic aberration and how noticeable it should be. This visual resource is somewhat overused nowadays, and may be displeasing on the users' eyes. However, due to the smaller size of a phone screen, the effect isn't as exaggerated in the end result.
