About BTS
BTS, an acronym of Bangtan Sonyeondan or “Beyond the Scene”, is a South Korean boy band that is capturing the hearts of millions of fans globally. The members of BTS are RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook. BTS has gained recognition from their authentic, self-produced music. From their top-notch performances to the way they interact with their fans, BTS has become a global phenomenon since they debuted in June 2013. While imparting a positive influence through activities such as the LOVE MYSELF campaign with UNICEF and the UN ‘Speak Yourself’ Speech on the one hand, they have mobilized millions of fans across the world (named ARMY), topped prominent music charts, sold out worldwide tours including stadiums and have been recognized with prestigious awards like the Billboard Music Awards.
Mission
BTS signals the beginning of a brand new story with the release of their newest EP MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA on April 12. As global superstars who play stadiums and are loved by countless fans across the world, BTS now looks to shape the future reflecting on and using the power they have gained while embracing all its shadows.
Opening the MAP OF THE SOUL series with PERSONA, BTS talks about the joy in finding love, and reaches out to the world with the messages they want to share with their fans. The band is especially curious about the stories of each and everyone who have helped them become who they are today.
Visual Design Strategy
Based on the key themes identified in BTS’s Mission Statement these are the design goals that I have come up with:
Connection with fans
BTS are primarily known for their strong connection with their fanbase army. Their website should be geared towards the fans through the content and design itself.
Finding oneself
The latest series of albums send the message of finding your true self and accepting yourself as you are. This message needs to be highlighted on their website more.
Authentic
BTS write the lyrics and produce their own songs which resonates a lot with the fans, this should come across in the website too. The fans should feel a personal connection with BTS through the interface.
