The Graduation Ball was a huge project for me. One that required extensive preparation, research and equipment to pull off successfully. Whilst the SU had in previous years merely taken a picture every minute from one angle, I knew that there was potential for so much more. I pitched my more elaborate concept and it wasn't long before my idea was in the works.
A one man operation including 3 D-SLRS, 7 lenses, 2 tripods, a truck load of accessories and over 100 angles made this video possible. Consequently I took over 20,000 pictures during the course of the night. Equipped with 2 tripods, 8 lenses, 2 D-SLR's, my laptop, hard drives, card readers and a plethora of batteries and memory cards, I thought I had everything ready for every possible obstacle. I had, except for one.

The fact that I was just one photographer, when I wanted at least two angles at the same time. I found myself planting, framing and calibrating one tripod on the side of the event, then whilst that camera was snapping, I'd sprint to other side. A 200m sprint that must have contributed to at least the lengh of a full marathon by the end of the night. It was an invaluable experience. I learnt the real life restrictions of a time-lapse workflow, coping mechanisms for a 18 hour shift and a bunch more. I definitely look forward to any future endeavours involving lapses.
