FINAL UNIVERSITY PROJECT - OSIJEK 2024.

The main idea of this work is based on connecting the history, development and current state of Osijek with industrial music. Industrial music differs from the commercial music genres in how it is listened to - for the most part, it contains heavier and darker atmospheres, so people who follow this scene approach this music more philosophically and analytically than pure easy listening. It has evolved throughout history into different sub-genres, most of which are not as brutal and cold as the primary form of industrial music. The commercialization of industrial music has helped the genre the most in the sense of its use in movies, video games and similar things.

Throughout its history Osijek had different industrial trades from which large industrial complexes and factories began to develop. Many of these factories today are just abandoned ruins that remind citizens to better times. At a time when the city was a strong industrial center, people were much happier and the city was more vibrant. Bad economic and political decisions have destroyed these happy moments and have begun to affect on increasing emigration among young people. Currently, Osijek looks more and more like a student city, so when non-Osijek students return home at the summer, we can best see this rotten reality of this city.

For creating a practical part of the work (audio cassettes and photo book) I used materials which I had collected during visits to certain factories located in Osijek. Using white and blue color in the design, I decided to preserve one of Osijek's characteristics.

Side A contains seven compositions which are produced by using sounds I recorded during my visits to specific factories (field recording).
Side B contains three interviews with people/workers who are connected to specific factories.
