Xerox Culture: Yugo Disco and Yugolearic

Xerox Culture:
Yugo Disco and Yugolearic
Final work, University North
Mentor: doc. art. Igor Kuduz

This work presents combination of theroetical and visual exploration of the club culture operating within socialist Yugoslavia. It contains two parts - a publication and zine that act as one element within another; zine is put within a publication showing a distinctive exploration of the club culture of socialist Yugoslavia. It deals with the phenomenon of disco and yugolearic music and also presents short visual-informative landscapes of selected artists from the mentioned genres of music. Since the theme is based around 1970s and 1980s, zine is made in the spirit of the time with analog techniques using collage, letraset, letratone and Xerox. Artists mentioned in zine:
Mirzino Jato, Arian, Videosex, Laza Ristovski, Oliver Mandić, Dino Dvornik, Du-Du-A, Began Čekić, KIM, Bel Tempo, Boom Selekcija, Moulin Rouge, Boban Petrović. Zine was made at M28 in Zagreb.
Zine is made out of materials from yugoslavian magazines Džuboks, Tina, Sve oko nas.
Other materials: Postcards from towns all over Yugoslavia (Beograd, Zagreb, Umag, Podgorica, Pula, Ljubljana).
Club and youth photographs are taken by yugoslavian photographer Miladin Jeličić Jela.
