Design Narrative:

The poster presented on behance uses a typeface which is called Dino. The typeface is inspired from dinosaurs and is depicted in the letters from the spines or pates on the left side and the curvature of certain areas of the letters. This presence the typeface gives off is the reasoning behind the intention of the poster, a dinosaur themed museum. More specifically a children’s museum, due to the act that children are highly intrigued by dinosaurs and the font while very simple is less formal and more expressive. The clientele would be families, but the target audience is more specifically children. The typeface works well with scientific, living organisms, nature, etc. Obviously, the typeface works best with the inspiration behind it. The addition font used in the poster is Fira Sans font which showcases some bold, regular, and light families throughout the work. The Fira Sans font works really well with the Dino typeface due to the curvature it has in relation to the typeface, the depth of families in the font being around 64, and the relative thinness of the font. The title, “Unearthed,” is presented at the center of the poster and the four events are laid out on top and below the title, diagonal from one another. The typeface isn’t very bold in itself, so to emphasize it as much as possible is essential. That’s the reasoning behind the typeface being the only white on the poster while the rest of the work uses greens and yellows. In order to stick with the theme of a dinosaur museum, the goal was to stay close to organic colors such as green most importantly. The events are structured by the title being the most important piece, and emphasizing the speaker involved due to the fact that they play a crucial role in the effectiveness of the events. Times and days are mentioned as well as the details of the events and lastly the location is mentioned since there are plenty of staff available to assist people in finding their preferred event. The website and contact information on listed at the bottom for any questions or help people may have. The silhouettes of two dinosaurs are showcased in the background of the work to emphasize a more friendly feel to the piece and remind the audience that this is children’s museum for dinosaurs.
