The Cookhouse - Creative Conscience Winner

Language is the first step into integrating to a new culture. With the wait time in some areas of the UK being three years to attend a beginner’s English class, this could be isolating and potentially damaging to a refugee’s mental and sometimes physical health. The Cookhouse joins locals with refugees to help them learn English through learning, sharing recipes, food and experiences: creating a cultural exchange. With a series of 3 books, The Cookhouse helps build the refugees’ confidence with speaking, reading & writing the English language as well as build a 

stronger community.
