↑ Animal Figurative Movement Composition | Turning (2019) charcoal, 18 × 48 inches
Depiction of how otters kick off by the glass, inspired by a visit to the Roger Williams zoo. Attempt to abstract and translate the movement of otters into a purely rhythmic and linear representation.
↑ Journey Project | Wake-up Call (2019) charcoal, 38 × 100 inches
↑ Figure Composition | Hard Dreams (2019) charcoal, 38 × 50 inches
Figure study in combination with an investigation of a nature lab texture. The texture depicted here is a gemstone mineral with circular intersecting surfaces. Attempt to use a repetitive and hard texture to juxtapose the calmness of the figure.
↑ Rhythmic Romposition | Nesting (2019) charcoal, 40 × 42 inches
The goal was to demonstrate a quality of the nature lab object. Qualities I chose to extract from the conch were the waviness, the coarseness on the outside, the softness and intimacy on the inside, and the directionality of the form.
