PROJECT 1
For this project, we were instructed to pick a designer from the past and recreate their style using elements from today. Theo Van Doesburg was an avid follower of the De Stijl movement and a huge fan of Piet Mondrian, however he was the first to place diagonal lines into his drawings and paintings, something that Mondrian had a huge disdain for.
I updated Van Doesburg's typography with a little twist of my own (with the 45 made out of shapes), as well as using a pastel color palette to help it feel less dated.
PROJECT 2: ART AND MUSIC BROCHURES
For this project, we were given information on the two majors offered here (Graphic Design and Music), and we were allowed to make whatever design choices we saw fit. I chose to go with a cooler color palette for both, since Assumption's colors are blue and white. I needed to warm the music brochure more, so I had some yellow text be placed in as well.
PROJECT 3: STUDENT HANDBOOK COVERS
This project, we had to create two student handbook covers for my college (Assumption College). One of them had to follow our brand guidebook, giving me a strict color palette and font choice but allowed me to work according to a brand's guidelines, while the other we could choose whatever designs, fonts and colors that we wanted. I chose to illustrate a greyhound, our school mascot, in order to relate back to the college.
PROJECT 4: FINAL
This project, we were to create movie posters for Alfred Hitchcock's two hit movies, 'Rear Window' and 'Vertigo'. We were instructed to use whatever fonts and colors we wanted, but needed to relate it back to the movie's plot and cinematic elements.
