Product and Package Design: Tinker Thinker

Product and Box Design: Tinker Thinker

The object of project 2 was to create a brand for a product and design the packaging to encase the product. The brand I came up with was Tinker Thinker, and it is a learning jigsaw puzzle set made to aid the developing learning skills such as motor as well as cognition and reasoning.
The age range I chose was infants and toddlers because during this time they haven't grasped the reasoning and fine motor skills that we take for granted, such as picking up pieces with more ease and piecing puzzles together in a specific pattern. They are still developing their recognition skills at this age, and having pieces that are easier to grasp that they can really grip and figure out using their sense of touch as well as eyesight with colors and numbers will aid this process. The are taking in every sensory detail at this age that bigger jigsaw pieces with bright colors that focus on basic skills such as the ABCs and numbers will play into this.
The idea behind the logo was to keep it simple with an easily recognizable object that correlates to the idea of the brand, such as blocks that are pieced together within the logo. The colors all stand out in a vibrant fashion, with a bright yellow as the background that juxtaposes aesthetically with the teal blue within the blocks of the logo, as well as the different tints of blue used in the puzzle pieces in the box illustration. The font is an easily readable yet still childlike font of Chelsea Market Pro, so that adults as well as children will be attracted to it. I kept the front box illustration more simple with just dotted lines that make up a thought bubble to tie into the Thinker part of the logo, and the alternating tints of blue for the A, B, and C as well as the 1, 2, and 3. I included a brief description of the product on the front so that when adults purchase this for their kids, they know exactly what the product is all about.
The sides of the box include illustrations of the same puzzle pieces and A, B, and C and 1, 2, and 3 as were on the front box design, but I incorporated a looping dotted line that trails a paper airplane composed of the yellow and blue color scheme, to add to the whimsical and fun feel of the product. They stand out nicely against the blue tint. The same looping dotted line is included on the sides of the lid to keep the whimsical theme consistent.
This is my post card for getting my brand's name out there to potential clients
This is my package dieline to show how the box setup would look like
This is my stylesheet to show exactly how the logo is to be used and what colors and fonts are to be used
