Baruch Scholar Students Must Fulfill Tasks to Graduate

Chairman and chief executive officer of New York City’s Accredited Ventures, Inc., Steve Kanzer graduated from Baruch College in New York City. While at the college, Steve Kanzer was a Baruch Scholar and received a full-tuition scholarship.

The Baruch Scholars Program is for first-year students, and it offers four-year full-tuition scholarships for in-state students. It allows students to pursue educational interests through specific activities, such as studying abroad and performing year-long community service projects. These students also become aware of social justice, diversity, and civic responsibility issues.

For students to graduate with honors from the Baruch Scholar program, they must fulfill specific requirements, including:

* Full-time enrollment. They must take between 12 and 18 units.

* Maintain a specific cumulative GPA. They must have a 3.3 GPA until the 59th unit and a 3.5 after the 60th unit.

* Complete community service. They must do at least 15 hours of community service each academic year.

* Attend an arts and culture event. Each semester they must attend one of these events, except for the first semester of their freshman year.

* Meet with their honors advisor. Before they enroll in classes, all first-year and sophomore scholars must meet with their advisor; upper-level students, while not required to, are encouraged to do so as well.
