Charlotte, NC City Branding

This Project is a rebranding of the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. The goal of this project was to showcase the City's personality through branding. Charlotte is a quickly developing city with a large arts community as well as being a large business hub.
This new logo incorporates the variable font, Phase, by Elias Hanzer, to communicate the way that the city of Charlotte is always changing and evolving.
The typeface uses several value sliders to manipulate the letterforms.
Several patterns were created inspired by current city murals and artwork. These patterns introduce ways to create variation within the branding and showcase the artistic side of the city.
These are three examples of business cards created for the city. Each different office has it's own pattern and type variation.
A custom letterhead and envelopes were made for the city government and incorporate the new patterns.
One interactive experience was created for the city as well. This experience would be located at the 7th Street market, a popular location in Uptown Charlotte.
The large touchscreen acts as both a photo opportunity spot, as well as a living mural for the city, the pattern is able to be changed and manipulated by users, as well as the city logo.
Users are able to crop and print their custom variations of the mural to keep as a postcard.
