marimekko
A poster designed for History of Graphic Design during the Fall semester of 2019 at Rhode Island School of Design. It was created as a tribute to the significance of Marimekko in the world of art and design. I wrote an essay on the 'anti-fashion' movement of Marimekko and used their prints on my poster to tie the background art to the company. As it was a tribute, I made the decision to make my poster vertical and the lines of text are supposed to subtly imply the texture of a textile. The background art is used as a way to tie the different bodies of text together, leading you from one paragraph to the next. There is an embedded summary within the text, through the use of bold type - drawing your attention to words that summarize the importance of Marimekko.
