Frank Gehry Architecture

The brief for this project was fairly simple - create a HTML based website for an existing professional selected at random. Luckily, I was given "Architect" so I immediately chose Frank Gehry as I am a fan of his contemporary, creative, and vastly different style, and thought that I could respond to it well and create a website that represented Gehry well too. I came up with a number of design ideas from the overall layout of the website down to details such as the Flash animations and came to the conclusion that despite Gehry's architectural style remaining very consistent and focussed, I should create a website that did not distract from Gehry's work. I used the phylosophy of Deconstructivism which challenges popular beliefs of how a an object should be designed, which Gehry also uses to design his buildings - he has said that the blurring of the lines between art and architecture has got to happen.

I believe that I have responded well to the brief and Frank Gehry's architectural style, but I also believe that I could have produced a better solution had I managed my time in a better way.

I you want to see the finished website in action, follow this link.

One idea for the introduction page involved the link to the home page being included inside the flash animation right at the end where the animation stops. This idea was axed due to not all web browsers being able to view flash content (meaning that it would be impossible for some users to navigate to the main site), and also the user might not want to have to sit through the entire animation which was around 30 seconds long.
