RAVANA SAMHARA
"The Beginning of The End". During the Dussehra festival, huge effigy's of Ravanasura are burnt in most of the places in India. This yearly repeating ritual has its origins in the mythology of Ramayan & is symbolic of the victory of good over the evil. Here, I have tried to showcase the story from the perspective of Ravana in a lighter mood. This artwork tries to capture those moments from the effigy's point of view, which shows the plight of Ravana who is bombarded from every different direction with arrows and fire. The effigy also has its own story to tell; here, instead of celebration, there is fear and perplexity along with panic and pain. This is that moment when the realisation comes of "the beginning of the end".
