The East Campus Health Sciences (ECHS) neighborhood has no permanent office space other than at the Moores Cancer Center and Shiley Eye Center. The new East Campus Office Building (ECOB) provides necessary support space for Health Sciences and Medical Center faculty, physicians, and support staff with clinical and/or research responsibilities primarily located on the East Campus. The project provides administrative and faculty office space to support existing and future planned Medical Center and Health Sciences facilities and allows for the consolidation of existing office space that was located in several locations including the portable buildings.
The ECOB creates approximately 3,000 assignable square feet (ASF) of clinical research space for the Clinical and Translational Research Institute (CTRI), and approximately 40,000 ASF of faculty office, administrative office, support space, and dry-lab research space for CTRI, the Cardiovascular Center, and other Health Sciences and Medical Center faculty. Envisioned as a non-assigned clinical research facility that is leveraged by many more principal investigators than the number of exam rooms, the clinic space takes advantage of its ground floor location to ensure easy and intuitive access by the human research subjects participating in clinical trials.
