Saltire Flats - Gallery Series Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

The Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat at 10,582 square kilometers and contains 50 to 70% of the world's lithium reserves. The large area, clear skies and the exceptional flatness of the surface make the Salar an ideal object for calibrating the altimeters of Earth observation satellites. As a photographer the experience of visiting the salar is like being in an infinite studio with perfectly even light. The Saltire series is a tribute to the vastness and weightlessness one seems to feel here where gravity and depth perception need not exist.

A special thanks to my wonderful dad who packed a dusty old bike tire across the entire Atacama desert:)
