The History of the Festival of Trees
First Western Advisors' president and CEO Gary Teran has a history of participating in philanthropic endeavors. Gary Teran currently supports several fundraising events for local charities, including the Festival of Trees in Salt Lake City.

The Festival of Trees is one of the primary fundraising campaigns for the Primary Children's Hospital Foundation. The event originates from a challenge posted to a determined group of women by the chairman of the Men's Endowment Board.

Inspired by a member’s visit to a Christmas boutique in Hawaii, the Women's Endowment Committee organized a local version to sell full-sized trees and seasonal treats. Even with a small inventory, the fundraiser proved financially successful and raised more than $45,000 dollars in a single day.

Since then, the Festival of Trees has expanded into a high-profile event that takes over a 220,000 square-foot space every year. An army of volunteers and business partners provide donations and support. Last year, the Festival of Trees raised nearly $3 million dollars for pediatric patients at the Primary Children's Hospital.
