Baikal \ 2019

If it's not inspiring, then what?

Lake Baikal, located in the Taiga of Eastern Russia, is the deepest lake in the world. Its depth reaches 1642 meters. In my project I want to show not only Baikal itself, but also the places located nearby, including the Frolikha mountain lake, which is connected by the mountain river to Baikal, whose water consists exclusively of melted mountain ice.

Baikal is an absolutely unique natural object, which is currently under a risk of being clogged with the garbage left by people and a massive forest cut down on the coast, also for illegal sale. This year's flora and fauna were in danger from major fires in the Taiga, which the authorities refused to extinguish for a month because it was "economically unprofitable" for the government.

I want to show the grandeur and mightiness of this unique place through my shots and express my hope for people of our country eventually will start to protect and care for the nature that surrounds them.

Thanks for watching!
