Senior Thesis: Hinoé
Spring 2022
Hinoé is my senior thesis for my bachelor's degree. I created a sustainable soap brand dedicated to my mother. The meaning of the name is the first initial of my first name (Helen) and a simplified version of my middle name (Inoue). Inoue was the name of my great-grandmother, and I was inspired by honoring women to create this brand. All photos, designs, and physical products were created by myself.
for me.
Spring 2022
I created this film as a final project for a Video and Photo course. I shot, edited, wrote, and distorted a song that my friend created for me. I wanted to express my feelings and experiences of youth, friends, love, and moving on. This video also explores how one moment can be happy, but looking back it can feel ominous, empty, and lonely.
me. twice.
Spring 2022
This photo and edit was done for my Artist's Sketchbook class. Based on the ideas that I had been curating over an entire semester into a finalized piece. I was playing with the dichotomy between the real self and the idealized self, as well as how women, or the female body, are portrayed in art. I wanted to create a piece that at first looks beautiful, but the subject is staring right back at you, overpowering you.
imperatrix
Spring 2021
This was a semester long project done in Cork, Ireland for my study abroad experience. For this self-initiated project, I decided to focus on packaging design and illustration. I created imperatrix, a botanical soda brand. Imperatrix means empress, or a strong woman. Following this theme, I featured the personification of each flavor of soda as a woman for the labels. The final deliverables are the branded style guide and digital mockups with illustrated labels.
Outspoke.io UX Project
Summer/Fall 2021
As lead UX/UI designer for Outspoke's application rebrand, I collected user research and organize all website pages and user flows. I created base wireframes and a new theme for the website. After creating a style guide and component library, I created a clickable interface with multiple pages for a financial consultant client. These pages include a main dashboard, as well as network, revenue and inventory drill downs, featuring the platforms main analytics. I created many displays and visualizations for supply management KPIs and metrics, as well as introduced new features and filtering options. At the end of the project, I created two separate dashboards: one for financial investors, and one for front end users. I featured many new capabilities on the site, including customizable visualizations and data analytics, relationship icons, taggable items and more.
I'm with RJ Rebrand
Summer/Fall 2021
I worked as a consultant and created a logo and website rebrand for "I'm with RJ" podcast. I worked with the owner and discussed his preferences and vision, and created a style guide for a website as well as a new logo.
HAZ Rebrand
Spring 2021
This project was completed during my study abroad experience in Cork, Ireland. I was part of a group of three designers, and our project was to create a rebrand for a non-profit community initiative. We were asked to keep their existing name, Health Action Zone, but breathe new life into the brand and give it a modern look while still honoring the brand's core values: which are inclusion, sustainability, and empowerment. Out of the six competing groups of students, my team won the client's approval with this presentation, and they agreed to use this rebrand as their new direction. Our concept was a village in a city: a small town mindset, where members of the community look out for each other and know their neighbors.
Mobile App Design
Fall 2020
For this semester long self-initiated UX project, I created a music app that caters to the listeners mood and tastes. The app asks how you're feeling, and gives you music recommendations to compliment your emotions. I conducted user research and created personas, user journeys, and wireframes as a part of my process. The final prototype follows a flow of a user checking their mood, and creating a new playlist.

not so perfect but so beautiful
Fall 2020
This was a self-chosen final project for Photographic Imaging II.  It is a series of self portraits focusing on the theme of expressing my inner thoughts. Each photo has a caption that reveals a thought of mine or a lyric or quote that resonates with me. The omission of my face is purposeful; it is my inner thoughts that are showcased, and my outer appearance is just an accessory. The photos are all taken in different settings because the series is a journey, and a reflection of places that are important to me. The thoughts I had while I was at these places are the portrait, not my face or figure. Each photo documents a moment of change, or a realization, that I can look back on and say with confidence, “I moved on from that.”
Acid Roadtrip Jacket Ad Campaign
Fall 2019
This is a fake ad campaign for an exclusive item from the brand Dolls Kill. For this project, I designed and decorated the physical jacket as well as collaborated with a photography student to direct and manage the photoshoot with a volunteer model. I planned the layout and designed the final ads. The ads were made for a large variety of lockups, and include Instagram, Facebook, magazine spreads and print ads.
Chobani Rebrand Project
Fall 2020
In this project, I rebranded Chobani using a new flavor launch as the theme. I wanted to take the brand in a natural and illustrated direction, but with a bit of whimsical elements as well. I chose to create a flavor that doesn't exist to build out my idea. The final was an Instagram Story animated video, and a magazine ad. I've shown my progress an iterations on the magazine ad, with the last ad as the final version.
Charity Ad Campaign
Fall 2020
In this project for Junior Studio I, we had to choose a charity to align with and create an advertising campaign. I chose the topic of world hunger and food waste. I wanted to use food waste as a way to talk about first world privilege. The final was an Instagram story, an Instagram post, and a poster ad.
Blackpink x MISSHA Digital Web Campaign
Spring 2020
This project was for my Web Design class. The project was to create and launch a mobile and desktop website for a brand collaboration. Included in the final presentation was my overall research findings, as well Persona, User Journey research, and preliminary wireframes and style tiles, before arriving at the final web and mobile mockup and ad.
nyctophobia

This is a visual book to accompany a poem. The concept was to unite two different things together in a harmonious way.
Apollo Gallery Exhibit Design
Spring 2020
This project focuses on spatial design for a gallery exhibit on the Apollo missions to the moon. The gallery walls are all interactive screens, that allow for the viewer to tap on what they are interested in to learn more. The final presentation is a spec manual guide for the gallery. Also included are the flats of the walls and the screenshots for each animated piece.

Fall 2019
This photo series was my final project for Photo Imaging I. The series is a narrative, based on the Chinese folklore of the "Red String of Fate", which ties soulmates together. The photos show a journey, of one soulmate to another, and the path they must take to find each other.
