A web presence and application for mobile devices were important to the Mission Empowerment project.
Having a website is vital in this day and age. It’s how everyone finds anything and it’s a great way to push for social networking and a broader audience. For an organization like Mission Empowerment, where the members are from all over the country, a website is a must have. It needs to be able to search for information from coast to coast.
The Mission Empowerment website was built with the idea of simplicity behind it. The navigation needs to be easy to follow and intuitive to the users. For members, this is about finding out about the company as well as membership and then to look for the colleges that they want to attend. That’s what Mission Empowerment is all about.
The main goal of the application is to help make time on campus easier for students who make have challenges getting around. Main features include your own very profile, campus maps, a social networking database for friends, accessibility on campus and tips and tricks. Campus maps include all of the capabilities to find directions to buildings, to classrooms and even shortcuts for those days when weather is less than ideal. The accessibility features allow for reporting problems, such as with elevators, to problems with professors that may need to be addressed at a later date. Independence is key but it is not always easy to obtain.
