Thoroddsenjökull
It all started with a message from Ben Simon Rehn, "I found a new road on the map, wanna go check it out?".
He had looked at satellite photos and thought it looked worth exploring.
Off we went.
It was a tough road climbing 700m from the south coast of Iceland. While we zig zagged our way up, the road became more difficult. Big bolders to climb over and steep hills. It was clear by the tracks that it had been a while since anybody ventured out here. The higher we climbed to closer we got to disappearing in the clouds, but the strong winds would push them away every once in a while. Halfway to the top, lost in the clouds, suddenly the wind pushed and uncovered this lake down below us.
A little further the road ends at a cliff revealing a magnificent view right in front of us. One of the glacier tongues coming down from the ice cap Myrdalsjökull, named Thoroddsenjökull.
