This is the era of music data. We live in a time where we can quantify individual music preferences, tastes, and activities as data, and we can track events, how artists and fan communicate, can all be quanitfied as data in real time. Artists and fans are communicating more directly than ever before with the advent of social media, and as a result the definition of “fandom” is changing — now fans aren’t just consumers of music but they are also content producers. K-Pop Radar (http://www.kpop-radar.com) was born to measure this fandom data in a practical, useful manner.

The categories within K-Pop Radar are DATA BOARD, BRIEF, ARTIST, etc. Within DATA BOARD, you can view artist fandom charts in real time through multiple SNS channels and see detailed data information in a variety of ways. Because BRIEF is linked to the charts and tells you what's happening with an individual artist, it brings fans and artists even closer. And the ARTIST menu allows you to view information about various artists by type.

Although the charts are strictly numbers and data-based, we designed it to be more approachable and engaging, turning it into content you can actually enjoy. By repositioning the layout, design, and data visualization, we created a platform that made the data intuitive and easier to understand. As part of the branding, we developed B.DOT, a dynamic, colorful, and fun identity that symbolizes how the radar catches all the different pieces of news about artists. We made sure the B.DOT visual identity was reflected through the entire design for a consistent experience.
