City Map of Bogotá. Essential Places to Visit in Downtown

Brief:
Despite the decline in violence following the Peace Agreement, tourism in Colombia, especially in its capital, Bogotá, has experienced a significant upturn. Nevertheless, a considerable number of visitors confine their exploration to the downtown area and the renowned Gold Museum. This initiative seeks to address this limitation by creating a comprehensive tourist map showcasing twelve main attractions and fourteen unique experiences in downtown Bogotá, Colombia. The primary objective is to inspire tourists, especially those traveling from other major Colombian cities, to broaden their horizons beyond the conventional destinations and uncover the hidden gems that Bogotá has to offer.

The Solution:
Unlike traditional tourist maps, this design follows the cartographic principles of Harry Beck, renowned for his minimalist approach. The map adopts a unique and lasting graphic style, utilizing a specific color palette inspired by the tones of Bogotá's flag. The result is an elegant and functional piece that stands out in the category.
The map features 26 icons representing points of interest and activities, accompanied by clear, bilingual (English and Spanish) text providing detailed explanations and brief historical summaries. The challenge was to simplify the complex cartography of the city center into a geometric and easily readable plane.
