Where Eagles Dare | Event Branding

Logos in black and purple.
This project was an event re-branding. I took an already existing event and both renamed and rebranded it. Originally, the event is called Ghouls Night Out. It is a music festival in New Jersey that celebrates horror punk music. I wanted to give myself the challenge of using white as the main color instead of black, which is obvioulsy a main color in most alternative subcultures. The other challenge I posed was to use typography and simple shapes instead of the heavy illustration that's present in gig posters, album artwork, etc. The other colors used were Halloween colors: purple and orange.

In the posters I wanted to create a fun and spooky story. Horror punk (the music and subculture) prides itself in its sense of humor and sometimes B-movie-esque cheesiness, so it's completely appropriate.
The poster reads:

Beware on the fourth of August, 2012, for the dead will rise from their graves and return to the living. With bits of skin clinging to what is left of their flesh, Zombeast, The Independents and the Cryptkeeper Five will be exhumed, causing The Epidemic to arise. This will wake the Crimson Ghosts and Mister Monster from their slumber. The Darrow Chemical Company and Gotham Road will join the Children of October and Shadow Reichenstein in the moster brutal account of horror you will ever witness. Nim Vind and Blitzkid will leave their tombs to perform the most terrifying acts imaginable. The price you must pay to see these unspeakable feats is $25 if afraid, and $30 if knocking on death’s door. The establishment holding this shocking event is Dingbatz, in Clifton, New Jersey. The haunt opens to all ages at 12:00pm. If you wish to be terrorized further, creep over to whereeaglesdarefest.com
The event invitation/postcard was designed with the poster in mind. The coffin shape would be cut and folded, allowing the reader to open the coffin door to reveal the QR code. When scanned, the QR code would bring up the website.
