This snowmobile was an assignment for a models and prototyping class. it was the first group project i had ever participated in. The challenge was to design and build a prototype of a snowmobile without the use of heavy tooling (essentially just using hand tools). The prototype shown above is a 1:1 scale model and supports weight of a person, and features a fully functional steering mechanism. The class was divided into 4 teams and at the end of the build we had an exhibition/ voting ceremony where this prototype one first place.
