Domestic Yokai Series

This is my Stay at Home/Domestic Yokai Series. It is a series of illustrations featuring Japanese Demons interacting with humans in lighthearted and whimsical manners.
The first piece of my series features "Chochin obake", a paper lantern demon surrounding a young child reading in the forest. The yokai are illuminating the book the boy is reading and keeping him company in the forest. This piece was created as my final for my Color Theory class. After finishing this piece I was inspired to keep creating more works along the same lines as this one.
The second of the series features "Tako nyudo" or an Octopus Monk Demon. Here the Tako nyudo is a sushi chef serving customers sushi. I included a variety of small details that give the audience something new to find the more they look at it.
The third of the series features "Biwa Bokuboku" or a Lute/Biwa Demon. For this piece I wanted the Lute demon to play himself and attract a crowd much like a musician performing on a street.
The forth of the series, features "Bakeneko", a monster cat. In this piece, the demon manages a Dango Stall which attracts many human customers and nearby cats. In this piece, I enjoyed working on textures and placing characters in this setting. I, personally, enjoy the cat pawing at the stall quite a lot.
This series is far from over and I am quite happy with what I have learnt from working on it and planning each piece.
