How to make a realistic CGI TV commercial

how to make a CGI
TV commercial with Cinema 4D

______
storyboard
______
After all technical parameters such as duration, FPS, file format, etc. have been defined together, the rough process is outlined in a storyboard. Important key scenes are outlined to give them a first visual frame. The storyboard can also be understood as a script for the 3D artist.
modeling
______
Next to the capsule only two different coffee beans were modeled in 3D | CGI. Thanks to instances and random parameters, any number of objects can be created automatically, which differ in size, rotation and position during fall.

Of course you need to create realistic shaders and textures for the product and for the beans.
That's all we need: 1x capsule (with different colors) and 2x coffee beans which differ in size and shape
set up your scene
______
We created a background and placed 2 softboxes next to our product. Completed by a global light from top and a little spot light from front, to get the look with the vignette.
The left placed light is shining a bit darker than the right one. On the top we placed the global light.
animation
______
To create more than 2 coffee beans we used the cloner function, to get the amount of beans we exactly need. For creating the very little pieces between the coffee beans we used the particle emitters of Cinema 4D. We placed the clones and the emitter above our products and let them making fall with dynamic tags.
The white rectangle creates endless falling particles. Those little pieces making the scene realistic.
influence the random
______
While setting up all the frames and making the first test renders, we noticed that the coffee beans were falling to straight and too boring. So we decided to create kind of a filter the beans needs to pass. Thanks to dynamics tags the beans collide with the filter and thus rotate differently.
To create more random falling beans we build a filter.
the result
______
After rendering the main part with Cinema 4D we used Adobe After Effects to make the post production like cutting and color grading.
