The challenge was to create a book that folded like an accordion and had both imagery and well set typography. I chose to use Edgar Allen Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum coupled with an ox plow style book fold, also known as a boustrophedon. These two choices work hand in hand. The main character is lost in his dark prison and the reader must twist and turn the book to follow along. I carefully set the type to fit the small format, six by four inches, and included page numbers to help the reader follow along.
